Introducing my 2016 Collection of Abstract Canvas Artwork

I’ve worked with my glaze layering technique for over five years and seen some truly fabulous displays of color – patterns, crystal-like bursts, and interesting color combinations. Over the past year, I’ve also heard repeatedly from people who come into my gallery how interesting the glaze combinations are….and this got me thinking. People are always looing for interesting modern wall art…so how great would these glazes patterns look on the wall?

Transforming Photographs of Organic Sculpture into Modern Wall Art

I began to explore the idea of photographs of my organic sculpture on the wall.,.and as I began to get more and more into it I realized that the super close-up shots were by far the most interesting. In fact they looked like modern paintings in their own right.

…And thus was born the Maggie Minor Designs 2016 Collection of abstract canvas prints.

The 2016 Collection of Abstract Prints

My new abstract canvas artwork collection comes in a large range of sizes as either square (from 8’’x8’’ to 30’’x30’’) or rectangles (to be posted on my online store in coming weeks) . They are a completely new take on modern wall art and could look fantastic above a mantel piece or as organic wall art in a living room, bedroom, or office.

How my Abstract Prints are Made

The giclees are printed with archival inks on 450 grams per square meter, 20 milli-inch premium glossy canvas made from an acid-free polyester and cotton blend. The light weight canvas is stretched across a wooden frame and wrapped around the 1.75" edge with a mirrored image.

My Favorite Decorating Ideas for my Abstract Canvas Artwork

My favorite decorating concepts for the abstract canvas print collection so far is placing a set of squares (either the same style or mixed an matched with several styles) over a sofa to make more a colorful eclectic look. The squares could also be used as organic wall art in a hall way or above a table. Several of them come in matching sets of 2. They are two shots of the same glaze from different angles / sections. My favorite is a set of matching 6 that was taken from my very first glaze painting (aka experiment with up to 8 different glazes on one piece).

Why my Abstract Canvas Prints are So Interesting to Decorate With

In terms of decorating, I’m really excited about my 2016 abstract print collection because although the patterns in the photographed glazes are intricate, the presentation of the print itself is rather simple. From far way they almost seem like simple accent pieces adding a cozy colorful aspect to the room, but when you get up close you begin to be mesmerized by the intricate design.

My new abstract print collection comes in a large range of sizes as either square ((from 8’’x8’’ to 30’’x30’’) or rectangles (coming in the coming weeks). Like the canvas prints, these make excellent organic wall art and look great in sets or individually. They are available as matte prints.
