How to Energize Your Bedroom with Modern Wall Art

Sometimes our bedroom decor gets ignored...it's unfortunate but true. Why do we ignore our bedrooms? Well...usually because we're focused on decorating other rooms like the living room. So how do we fix this problem....

Best Ways to Bring Color (and Life) to your Bedroom

I recommend color first and foremost. Painting your walls can really make a room pop. I personally am a big fan of blue in bedrooms.

Second, I recommend buying some canvas prints, framed prints or fine art that makes you feel happy and most importantly calm. After all, your bedroom is where you sleep and it should be the one room in the house that really invites you in and makes you feel the most comfortable. Since I like pastels and blues that's generally what I go for. I like white accents too...it just makes the room feel clean and fresh.

In this blog, I've included pictures of rooms with two different prints in each. I did this so that you can see how much a print can change the mood of a room....

Both of the options above are pastel but one is a large rectangular canvas print that almost looks like an extension of the headboard and brings a very vibrant feel to the room. The two pastel canvas prints on the other hand are small enough that they accentuate the light blue walls but serve more as accents on the wall...and seem balanced with the bed. They bring a more cohesive feel to the room.

Provide Definition with Framed Abstract Wall Art

In the bedroom above, framed abstract prints work best because of the textured wood wall behind the bed. The black frames and white matte edging provides a break with the wall and it also mirrors back the white bedspread giving balance to the room.

On the left the green and purple framed abstract wall art provides a more dramatic look and gives a interesting depth to the wall behind the bed...as where the large rectangular coral-inspired print above the bed on the right gives the room a lightened feel accenting the white bedspread and providing a deep contrast to the dark wood wall.

Accentuate the Energy of a Room with Color

The industrial loft bedroom above has a concrete wall and the bed's headboard is a rustic wood...so it's a pretty textured room. You could go two different ways in this room, you could put up a similar modern rustic canvas print that accentuates the exact feel of the room. For more ideas on this, see my blog - Redesigning Your Home with Modern Rustic Art. In this blog, however, I have chosen to accent the room with abstract canvas prints that bring color and additional texture to the room. With these prints the room keeps its rustic feel, but it also gets a splash of color.

The large rectangular print on the left brings out the grey of the concrete wall but at the same time lightens the mood of the room with blues and purples. Its large size also accentuates the room's tall ceiling and brings the eye up.

The square print on the right brings an even lighter feel to the room. Its smaller size doesn't dominate the room like the other print but rather serves as a small accent. Its blue and green tones are balanced by a rustic brown streak at the top giving almost a head tilt to the modern rustic design of the room.
