Decorating Ideas for a Colorful Modern Coastal Dining Room

There's something so energizing and yet calming about rooms inspired by the coast. So with that in mind I've put together a super comfortable and colorful modern dining room with strong touches of elegance.

I started with this set of blue and yellow abstract canvas prints. These highly organic prints can be ordered as two medium sized prints and place one on top of the other if you only have a tall thin wall in your dining room. If this is the case then I recommend downloading my free eguide - How to Choose the Best Art Sizes for Small Spaces. However, if you have a large wall space in your dining I definitely recommend ordering two large panels to take up the whole wall. Download my free eguide below - How to Choose the Best Art Sizes for Large Spaces. It had a wonderful chart that recommends canvas print sizes for all sorts of all lengths with furniture and without.

First let's start with my favorite part of the room....the super elegant and feminine chandelier which I think really sets this apart. It gives it an elegant coastal feel and an added depth of texture. Second, I selected one of my modern organic sculptures to be used as a centerpiece. It's blue, white and gold glazes bring together the bold coastal features of the canvas prints and the elegant rustic feeling of the dining room table.

This wonderful light wooden table is the shade of driftwood but has the smoothness of a finely craft piece of furniture. It can seat 6 people comfortably...and comfort is the objective with this room. That's why I choose these super comfortable fabric backed chairs....whose legs also match the table perfectly.

To give the room a splash of color, I've chosen this light yellow rug.....which also brings out the yellow accents in the abstract canvas print. To balance out color with texture, I've chosen these amazing Vera Wang dishes who patterns almost remind me of shells without being overly 'beachy.'

For larger dining rooms I've chosen this distressed white sideboard with tons of storage space. The white of the wood adds some additional softness to the room. For formal occasions, I've included these Vera Wang wine glasses with an organic cut pattern.
