How to Create a Luxurious Beige and Teal Bedroom

How to Create a Luxurious Beige and Teal Bedroom

I have a love affair with texture. I like the way it feels to the touch and I like the way that fabrics and other materials that have been layered look. For me they just feel soothing and luxurious.

So with this in mind, I decided to design a bedroom that really celebrated texture and then had accents of color. I like the way that texture and color can compliment each other. At the same time, I think it's really important to balance the two so that the senses aren't overwhelmed but rather feel soothed with a sliver of excitement.

Thoughts behind this Luxurious Beige and Teal Bedroom

The Wall Art - I started the design of this luxurious beige and teal bedroom with one of my most textured abstract prints. Like all of my prints it's a photo of layered glazes but the sculpture that this print is of are particularly textured....the crystals in one of the glazes just gives it this wonderful organic layered look that I just love. I decided that I had to design a bedroom around because its textures just felt so soothing ....and I think its so important to feel soothed with you're getting ready for bed. Download my one of my free eguides to help you choose the right sized artwork for your home.

Upholstered Bed - To compliment it, I then picked out a beige upholstered bed with a tall somewhat textured headboard. I chose a crisp white duvet and pillow set to accent the white in the artwork and to add a little bit of sleekness to the room. Because the headboard is so tall and makes its own statement, I recommend hanging the artwork on a large blank wall within your line of vision when you're laying in bed. That way you get the feeling of the artwork first thing when you wake up in the morning and right before you go to bed.  To get an idea of what would work best in your bedroom download the below eguide - How to Choose Art Sizes for Large Spaces. Don't let the 'large spaces' title intimidate you...it includes recommendations for medium sized rooms as well...

Nightstands - Next I picked out a sleek wooden and metal bedside table to balance out the texture and because the piece just feels really luxurious to me.

The Dressers - I then found the two matching dresser. Both are hip height and wide with plenty of room for your jewelry, accent pieces, and anything else that you like to have at hand when getting ready in the morning. However, one has a series of five wide think drawers while the other has ten drawers with five on each side. I included them both so you could choose which one worked best for your lifestyle.

The Table Lamp - The room was looking a bit brown and beige at this point so I knew that it needed a good splash of color in order to feel alive....so I found this cute light blue table lamp for either side of the bed.

The Accent Chair - I then carefully chose a teal accent chair with velvet fabric for the corner of the room and teal curtains to add just enough teal to make a statement without overpowering the room.

The Bench - To add a bit more whimsical and texture to this luxurious beige and teal bedroom I found a fun white faux fur long bench for the end of the bed

The Rug - ....and this amazing white cow hide rug sewn into zig-zaged strips for added texture. This rug will feel absolutely wonderful to your bear feet first thing in the morning!

The Wall Sculpture - To add more visual elements to the walls I chose of my most interesting and experimental sculptures...it has several layers of glaze but then also includes glass for added affect. I thought it would look wonderful hanging on the wall behind the teal accent chair if your bedroom layout allowed.

The Mirror - Lastly, I wanted the dresser to be very functional so I chose this fun shaped mirror with a brass outer edge.
