How to Transform your Bedroom into a Sexy Sanctuary

When you think of a sexy sanctuary what do you think of? Do you think of an over the top bedroom filled with red pillows and lingerie. Well, don't worry that's not where I'm going with this post. Instead, I believe that truly feeling sexy is built on a foundation of feeling comfortable in our bodies and our environments. Feeling sexy is about having the freedom to just be ourselves and flow with what is happening ...whether that be with your partner and just in moments of peaceful silence with yourself. Feeling sexy above all comes from within....so I have written the seven ways you can quickly change your bedroom that will give you these feelings. They may not seem obvious at first...but I promise they work. Change one thing at a time and start to compare how you felt in your bedroom to how you felt in your bedroom before.....you'll start to notice subtle changes that when combined with more changes will make a big lasting impact.

#1 Rethink your Bedding

Think about your bedding for a moment. Does it feel amazing to touch? What does it feel like against your bare skin? Be honest. Does it just kind of do the job or does thinking about it put a little naughty smile on your face?

Now bedding doesn't need to be silk to be sexy. It can be high quality cotton, high quality linen, or any other material. What matters is whether it makes you feel amazing when you're lying on it. Also think about whether the color makes you feel at ease with yourself? Does the color invite you and make you want to stay forever? If not, pick a color that does and go out and buy those sheets that you've always wanted to buy... and give them a spin.

Bedding also includes duvet covers, bedspreads, pillows, and really anything else that's on your bed. Now think about each of these things individually and go through the above questions. Get rid of anything that doesn't fit what you want and order new ones that do.

#2 Think about your Lighting Differently

Lighting is a powerful tool that can completely change the mood of your bedroom. If you have table lamps that are super bright and a bit jarring when you turn them on replace the bulbs with natural light bulbs using a wattage that is gentle to the eyes when transitioning from darkness.

For overhead lighting and lamps connected to wall switches install a dimmer so that you can easily set the mood for romantic evenings. You can also buy lamps with dimmers already installed...just look at the specifications to check.

Don't count out other forms of lighting. String lights with white wiring hung strategically in a corner of your room or over your bed can add an almost otherworld feeling to your room. If this sounds appealing give it a try.

You can also light unscented or scented candles for special romantic evenings. Just make sure to place them out of reach of fabric and somewhere that its okay if they melt all the way down. You can also try electric candles if you like the atmosphere of candles but don't want any of the worries.

#3 Rethink your Headboard

Headboards are important. Subconsciously they make us feel supported and they really set the mood for a bedroom. And what you like really depends on what textures you like to touch. So if you're very attracted to soft cottons or linens then replace your current headboard with a plush upholstered one and take pleasure in running your fingers over it in the morning. Headboards are important. However if you prefer the sturdy feeling of wooden headboards make sure that it too feels good to the touch and that it feels good against your back if you want to sit up in bed and lean against it and have a sexy conversation with your partners.
